Happy Snappin' Friends in Townnnnnnn.

^Message from my wife..

Over the weekend we were set a mini brief to photogrpah family and friends, however due to seeing very little of my family this weekend I only seem to have photos of friends.. GUTTED.

Technically this photo was an accident buh shhhhh. I tryed to take a picture of Jenny without actually looking through the viewfinder. I managed to get the top of Jennys head, and magically managed to get myself, Kyle and Jenny in the window reflection.

I sat for about 5 minutes trying to get this photo of Joey, but he just kept looking at the camera as i was messing around with exposures and stuff. The only one he isnt looking at me for is the one with everything set-up right! :D

Another photo taken in Maccies, this time of Tony. He saw i had a camera and so started messing around throwing Terry chocolate orange in to the air and trying to catch it in his mouth. Admittedly this photograph didnt really work but i really really like it oddly enough.

Check out my wifey ;D haa.
She came round my house and we had a coursework day which then turned nito her taking silly numbers of photos of me! Lucky for her, this photo make her look like shes working!

So thats about as interesting as my weekend got.

Shoot at Winsford Body Shop

Earlier in the month, on January 2nd I posted a blogpost about a photographer, Sharon Rose. One of her photos was particulary eyecatching to me and so I chose to re-shoot it, but i decided to put my own twist on it.
Here are a few of the outcomes..

Quite fond of this image, i have burnt in the edges slightly to increase the contrast and direct the audiences eyes towards my model.

Taken from a different angle and the colour taken away. I liek the perspective on this photograph.

Drowning Film..

For this current project im working on, I have had to purposely expose film and drown it in water in order to be able to scratch in to the surface.
Check out what happens when you drown film..

Early morning..

Walking to college this morning, it could not have been a more ideal time to have my camera with me. For some reason, when walking by myself I always get paranoid as i go past Leftwich Green, however as i turned around this morning to check who was behind me I saw the perfect opportunity to take a picture.

This is the original image, generally very pleased with it. But oddly enough, i am not a fan of the bird flying through it.Don't think i am going to edit it though :)

Not amused!

Today was an absolute disaster. Really not very happy with my outcomes. Tutors didn't help much either, controlling how i did it. Fucksake. People messing with my set as well when i’m trying to work, didn’t go down great either.
Slides cut to the right size and everything but I can’t use them. Why? The text is too big. Not in the slightest bit happy to be perfectly honest.
Oh well, here is a few of the outcomes I got...

This one I took as a general portrait so that I had more option if the other images didn’t work as well I hoped. This just needs a tiny piece of the far edge cropping out and touching up a tiny bit. My model is already very pretty, so it’s mainly the background that needs working on.

Hmm.. This one needs to be made darker I think before I add text or anything. Seems okay generally, bit of touching up or "airbrushing" as it is more commonly known, and it will be reet.

Out of them all, this shot is my favourite. Relatively dark around the edges and a decent framing. The quote hasn’t come out as strong as I hoped and there are parts that are completely missed off, in the edges. Not too bad though..

They're you have it, my most stressful shoot yet. Shall just have to see what photoshopping does to them now.

shooting preparations :D

My remake shoot is coming together nicely, i have a model sorted (Georgia France) and shes absolutely stunning. The location I was hoping to use agreed, and I only have to loan out my light set now. Will be shooting on the 21st it looks like. I even have somebody to do hair and make-up for me. Im pretty proud of myself so far.
As for the college shoots.. man this brief is gunna be interesting. The amount of research ive done already is untrue. Martin Luther King (MLK) was a much more complex man than i could ever have imagined.
I have a model sorted for this project too, (Laura Mcgahan) though im more nervous about this one. Its a one off oppurtunity to shoot. And i have to project "i have a dream" across her. Should have some interesting outcomes though. Fingers Crossed!!
When i was researching into amnesty and racism i came across these images..
This image made me think about the way in which black and white people aren't as different as many people think. It shows that we can be united and we should be, neither one or other should feel that they are superior. I think it is a good image to campaign with, it was actually used, it shows a very clear, strong message and gets straight to the point.
This image also shows how to different races can get along, again it grabs the audiences eye and proves that there is no need for racism. Black and white people are equal, and should be treated that way. Again, it is a good strong image to campaign with, however i think the first one is slightly stronger, due to handcuffs showing they are stuck there together.
These images only link in to my research on racism, but they have both put across a clear message. I now get to continue with my research, looking further at MLK. Later 'gatorss.

What is Goth?

I've spent my day today doing research for a photography shoot I have organised. I have had to look in to what "goth" is, and what I found out has been interesting.
I decided to firstly go on to a forum to find out peoples views on the matter, and each person i spoke to said they would describe goth as being a dark subculture, but all those people would describe themselves as thoughtful, caring, passive, creative, acceptable and unique people.
Having found this out, I decided to ask people who don't describe themselves as goths what the term meant to them. Again, most people said a dark group of people, very fond of black. But I also got other responses, for example violent, evil, depressive, morbid. Vampires and death was also very often associated with them.
Going on to a website, entitled "What is Goth?", it is explained that Goths were originally a group of people who rejected society and wore alot of black. However within this subculture, there is a wide variety of people and not one of those people could define the term goth in three words.
Overall it seems that "goth" is just a label, or a stereotype. And like most stereotypes, it is misunderstood.

Sharon Rose Photography

With little to do earlier, i decided to scour the internet in search of an idea for something to do. Instead i ended up looking at other photographers work. I found the work of Sharon Rose particulary captivating and interesting. Sharon Rose captures a range of subjects, photogrpahing landscapes aswell as portraits. It is her porttraits that i have been looking at more closely.

This image caught my eye because it is unsual to see a wedding dress advertised with such a dark make-up behind it. It is a dark, fairly gothic photo. The dress is absolutely stunning aswell.

The spotlight on this photogrpah lights up the model well without taking away the nighttime sky. I would absolutely love to re-create this image, however if i did i think i would put my own spin on it, dressing my model up in more gothic clothes with dark make-up.
